Glen Lake Vista with the Rutland Hikers

CASTLETON — Members of the Rutland-based Thursday hiking group ventured up the Glen Lake Vista Trail last week. Bob Perkins, one of the group’s many leaders, said attendance has been smaller this summer, most likely because of the heat. Perkins led the group up the 1.8-mile trail to a view that looked from north to south, passing wild mushrooms, small newts, frogs and thankfully only a handful of mosquitoes.
